Welcome to the July First giveaway celebration. But first, a slight story to explain why I moved this newsletter from its normal publication date, which would have been this Wednesday, to today.
Since “One July” 2019 I Am Lucky To Be Alive
After a 7:30 am meeting, I had been up for nearly twenty hours and was ready to sleep the rest of the day. Two friends and I were standing against a counter that featured goods from various care packages. We shot the breeze, talking about nothing in particular.
Right before the conversation wrapped up, though, something happened that I will forever remember in a skewed way. In slow motion, I saw the ceiling curve downwards, rebound into an equal but opposite curve upwards, and then slam down while hearing the loudest sound I have ever heard.
An explosion almost twice as powerful as the Oklahoma City truck bomb had gone off. It was a bad day, but one that will forever remind me to cherish life. Part of cherishing is sharing joy with others. So, in celebration of me not dying and learning to deal with traumatic experiences like 1 July, I want to share with others the opportunity to enjoy Fallen and its sequel Risen. Making these books helped me deal with my deployments, reminding me hope is possible in a fallen world. I want you to enjoy them, too.
Fallen - The Dramatization Audiobook Giveaway
Fallen my first science fiction book. It deals not only with humanity’s relationship with an alien race arriving to Earth, but also a veteran struggling with his own conflict-induced PTSD.
The audiobook should be out within the next two months, and I want honest reviews to greet Audible users when they come across it.
To win, write a comment to this post explaining what interests you about the Fallen storyline if you have not read it, or what you liked most about Fallen’s universe if you have read the novel. I will select the top three in each category.
Risen - Digital Copy of the Sequel for Those Who Have Read Fallen
Risen concludes Brendan’s cycle in the Fallen storyline.
With the book being released on August 15, 2024 (I uploaded it at 11:20 in the morning today!), I want honest reviews to greet Amazon users when they come across it.
To win, leave a comment explaining what you think the Sabia’s plan is and why. I will select the top five entries.
If you have read Fallen, you can apply in both giveaways.

Until Next Time
Thank you for reading this newsletter post. Next time, I will reveal my new work in progress. After that, I will share some of my more recent very short fiction.
As always, please leave a comment with any questions, reviews, thoughts, whatever about Fallen, Risen, or whatever else I have discussed. I promise to reply!
1) My favorite pet of the universe so far is the identity of the Sabia themselves. I am 100% here for anything touching on an antediluvian theme! It’s a great incorporation of the faith that treats it as absolutely true, and spirals the implications of that outward.
2) I think the Sabia are here on two separate agendas. In the main, most of the crew is on a mission to heal their species. I think they can’t have children. I don’t think they’ll kidnap anyone, but perhaps intermarry. I think the Security Forces are controlling the real mission to harvest genetic material, send it back home, and repopulate themselves. Brendan is being harvested because of his hybridization. Further, the goal is to recolonize earth for themselves.
