The One Page, One Dice Role Playing Game
One of the fun things about talking to readers is how many of them imagined themselves like Brendan doing liaison work with the aliens known as the Sabia. During a conversation about what one reader would do, he mentioned how cool it would be to do a Dungeons & Dragons session based on Fallen. Well, one thing led to another, and I, full of energy and little forethought, boasted that I could make Fallen into its own role-playing game (RPG).
After some thinking, I realized I wanted something that could be heavy with Fallen’s lore while easy to play without much time commitment. Thus, one dice Fallen: The One Page RPG was born.
Fallen: The One Page RPG stars you! In the game, you have been assigned as the new military liaison officer to the mysterious aliens known as the Sabia. Your mission is to gather intelligence and have the Sabia accept you into their fold. These sometimes contradictory goals are achievable, but as time passes, the government is becoming impatient while the Sabia are becoming suspicious. Your background can aid you while also handicapping you.
The Combat Veteran can gain more time from government nay-sayers by playing off collection successes.
The HUMINTer is skilled at collections. This leads to risk-taking and more significant rewards. However, the government expects more from you while the odds of making mistakes increase.
The Public Affairs Officer has the suave gift of gab that can win most over but also can raise the alarm amongst others.
What does your future hold? Long-term acceptance as a trusted voice, thus ensuring peace? Collecting intelligence that will give Earth the edge in future negotiations? Failure and shame? Or something much worse? Grab a dice and find out!
If you do not have a dice or printer, the PDF’s score box is togglable, while a free dice simulator is available online.
I Want to You Involved in the Fallenverse!
First, thank you for taking an interest in Fallen and my newsletter. There are many author newsletters out there, and if you made it this far, you’ve invested yourself in Fallen, its upcoming sequel Risen, and everything else I am sharing. Yet not all of you have read Fallen, and those who have may not have left a review or shared their thoughts with me.
I want to change that! If you have read the book, contact me with your thoughts and questions! If you haven’t read it yet, let me know how I can make it your next book to read!
You can reply to this email, comment, or contact me on X (also known as Twitter; I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the name change).
Very Short Fiction
Two fun #SciFiFri fictions for you. The first is based on the word “labor” while the second one is based on the word “learn.”
Labor
The orange flag flew throughout Novarum Rerum, but Belloc City's skies were full of them. It wasn't the most advanced colony, but it was where Helen thought her labor could give her an honest living after the nightmare that was Mars' mines.
Learn
"I- want to learn- love," the computer said, somehow having a sense of longing in its monotone voice.
"Who the heck has been messing with the machine, again?" Xosefa cried.
She heard the programmers chuckling at their lunch table. Rolling her eyes, she got to work.

The Red Frontier: Book 1 of The Red Tomorrow by Joseph Cruz - Book Sample
Raymond Redmin, a doctor from the 21st century, suddenly awakens aboard a spaceship. He has no recollection of how or why he ended up here, hundreds of years in the future, crashing down to the planet Mars. It has apparently been 185 years since the Earth went "silent." The colonists of Mars have since created their own society. After centuries of war, the planet is now ruled by the utopian Zeltan Kingdom, a race of genetically engineered superhumans.
However, all of the disparate factions of the planet have come to descend upon the crash site of Raymond 's ship. Although his sudden appearance may yield some answers as to what has happened to Earth, war threatens to engulf the nearby peaceful settlement town of Remnant.
Raymond, along with a fearless young woman of the Frontier, noble Zeltan supersoldiers, benevolent androids, a quick-drawing cowboy, and faithful robotic fox companion, they set off on a harrowing journey to prevent the ship's technology from falling into the wrong hands. Encountering menacing cyborg pirates, experimental hordes of the undead, savage evolved beasts of a treacherous dark forest, and giant robotic humanoid battle suits called exo-mechs, these heroes are the last hope for the red tomorrow...

Until Next Time
Thank you for reading this newsletter update. Next time, we will feature continue the series of extraterrestrials and religion by looking at Protestant Denominations and Other Christian Faiths. Check out the earlier posts on Aliens and Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy to get caught up. Then I am going to tackle a personal Afghanistan memory concerning a lost(?) effort for peace there and in the world. It will be tough one to share.
As always, feel free to leave a comment with any questions, reviews, thoughts, whatever about Fallen, Risen, or whatever else I have discussed; I promise to reply!
