My favorite quote: "Meanwhile, I will continue to write my own fantasies (without the use of generative AI), but I will tell people it’s science fiction when they buy it."
Charles exaggerates and skews truths when it comes to geopolitics and other topics he writes about. Beware those who tell you what you want to hear, they can easily manipulate.
We should do a podcast at some stage discussing these ‘prophets’, their nonsense, and how to actually approach Scripture sensibly with regards to complex topics (of which this and end times ideation are but two). Btw, I’ve called out many of these ‘prophets’, even within my own networks, and none have ever manned up to the falsities they speak. One dynamic undergirds all their nonsense: they’ve got no idea how to treat well with Scripture; or otherwise stated, they’ve no idea how Scripture itself calls us to treat with it. Anyway, good read. I can see it’s been cooking for some time. 😁
What’s our time difference again? It’s 16:13 here now. Also, in respect to taking the lead, I can probably lead us in with a good anecdote or two and then we just run with it from there. Confident we’ve got enough depth between us to just keep going.
Splendid rundown, Patrick. I read Lue Elizondo's book and was so underwhelmed. Norhing but the same rehashed claims about Roswell bodies and recovered tech that's been circulating (without evidence) for decades. He doesn't even know how to make a coherent argument. Claims must be backed up with evidence. Instead Elizondo piles claim upon claim upon claim, each more outlandish than the last. And he expects his readers to just take his word for it because he was in DIA. If it smells like BS it's probably BS. Thanks again for this level-headed examination of a fascinating topic.

The lonely life, but the good life.
I actually quite like a lot of Joshua Charles’ content. It’s a real shame he has to be on the side of paranoid apocalyptic conspiracy theories.

I'd be game. What time works for you? As a pastor yourself, want to take the lead?

I’ll send you a message in chat (can’t have my phone at work)

The question I have is how many people in key roles of the government and military are mentally unwell. I fear the answer.
I’m at the point where it honestly boggles my mind that anyone was expecting something today BESIDES an anticlimax…
Closed social media feedback loops combined with Messianic/End Times beliefs will cause one to feed on ever increasing claims as matters of faith.
Already, O’Connor already is escalating with a post that reads
“UFO Disclosure has now begun.
The Great Deception is about to arrive.
Do not be deceived. Do not let your loved ones be deceived
…”
Pied Piper of crazy.
I saw the reveal… and I’m not seeing anything that I haven’t really seen before… grainy videos…
This is not a serious engagement with what O'Conner and Joshua Charles have been arguing. Just preaching to the choir.
If you want to point out what in my quoting and summarization of what was said was wrong and provide links I would be grateful.
